Reference Letter Guidelines

Deadline to submit a Reference Letter: May 11, 2025

To submit a Reference Letter for a Candidate to the Plaskett and Petry Awards in Painting, please email reference@joeplaskett.com:

  • Email subject should be “Reference Letter for Candidate’s full name”.
  • Sign the message including your name and full contact information.
    • Referees may be contacted by a representative of the Joe Plaskett Foundation by phone and/or email for further verification.
  • In the letter, please include:
    • Your connection to the candidate, and how long you have known them for;
    • Your assessment of the Candidate’s qualities as an artist and an MFA student;
    • How do you think the Candidate could benefit from living, traveling and creating artwork abroad over a period of 12 months.
  • After we receive your Reference Letter, we will send a confirmation message by email to the Candidate and you. Please allow a delay of 3 to 5 working days before the confirmation message is sent.
