Criteria for Eligibility
The candidate chosen for The Joseph Plaskett Award or The Nancy Petry Award will be an outstanding emerging Canadian artist in the field of painting.

A Canadian student currently enrolled or accepted in a master's program in Canada with a practice specialization of painting, or having recently (within 12 months) obtained a Master's degree with a specialization of painting.

The Award
Established in 2004 by the artist Joe Plaskett, The Plaskett Award provides $30,000 to help fund an emerging Canadian painter who will live, create artwork or travel in Europe for one year (a required minimum of nine months). Starting in 2015, a second award called The Nancy Petry Award is offered, which provides $10,000 to the runner-up to create artwork and travel in Europe for three months.

Application dossier must reach the Foundation at the office of the RCA by Wednesday April 4, 2018. The recipient of the Plaskett and Petry Awards will be announced in Spring of 2018 at a location TBD.
